This wikiHow teaches you how to install a high-definition version of a mobile app on an Android phone. You can do this by downloading the app's cache file, which is a high-definition texture and graphics pack, along with the app itself from a third-party website on your phone. Keep in mind that not all Android games have high-definition versions, and the ones that do may require the latest operating system and several gigabytes of space.

Steps

Enabling Downloads From Unknown Sources

Open your Android's Settings Android 7 Settings App. Tap the gear-shaped Settings app in your Android's App Drawer. You can also swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon in the drop-down menu that appears.

Scroll down and tap Lock screen & security. You'll find this in the middle of the Settings menu. On Samsung Galaxy phones, this option is entitled Lock screen and security instead. Some phones will have a Security option instead.

Tap the white "Unknown sources" switch Android 7 Switch Off. It should be toward the bottom of the menu. The switch will change color Android 7 Switch On. On some Androids, you'll instead tap the "Unknown sources" checkbox. You may have to scroll down to see this option.

Tap Allow when prompted. Doing so will confirm your choice and enable non-Play Store downloads, meaning that you can download and install an app from a website rather than being restricted to the Google Play Store.

Downloading Game Files

Open Google Chrome Android 7 Chrome. Tap the Google Chrome app icon, which resembles a red, yellow, green, and blue sphere icon. Chrome is the standard browser on most Androids, but you can use a different browser if you'd prefer.

Open the Mob website. Tap the search bar, type in mob.org, and tap ↵ Enter or Search in your Android's keyboard.

Tap Games. It's a tab near the top of the page. This will show you all Android games that are compatible with your phone.

Select a game. Find a game that you want to install an HD version of, then tap it. The game's page will open. You can also tap the magnifying glass icon in the top-right side of the screen and then type in a game's name to search for it.

Scroll down and tap Download. It's a green button near the bottom of the page. Doing so takes you to the game's file download page.

Download the APK file. Tap the most recent version number for the file name ending in ".apk", then tap Download when prompted. The APK file may begin downloading as soon as you tap its name as well. In some cases, you'll tap Download below the APK file instead.

Tap OK when prompted. This will allow Google Chrome to begin downloading the file into your Android's "Download" folder.

Download the cache file, then tap OK when prompted. The cache file will be below the APK file section, and will have the same version number as the APK file. Tapping it will prompt a menu in which you can tap Download. Again, you might have to tap Download below the cache file instead. Tapping the cache file's name may also prompt it to download automatically. If you don't see a cache file here, there isn't an HD version of your selected game available.

Wait for both files to finish downloading. Google Chrome will show a notification when each file finishes downloading. In the meantime, you can proceed with installing WinZip if you don't already have it installed. If WinZip is already installed, skip ahead to installing your game.

Installing WinZip

Open the Google Play Store Android Google Play. Tap the Google Play app icon, which resembles a multicolored "Play" triangle.

Tap the search bar. It's at the top of the screen.

Type in winzip. As you type, you'll see results appear below the search bar.

Tap WinZip - Zip UnZip Tool. It's below the search bar. Doing so will take you to the WinZip page.

Tap INSTALL. This green button is on the right side of the screen.

Tap ACCEPT when prompted. Doing so will prompt WinZip to begin installing onto your Android.

Wait for WinZip to finish installing. It should only take a few seconds. Once WinZip finishes installing, you can proceed with installing your HD game.

Installing Your Game

Open WinZip. If you just installed it, you can tap OPEN in the Google Play Store; otherwise, tap the clamp-shaped WinZip app icon on one of your Android's Home Screen pages.

Tap Storage. It's a tab on the left side of the screen.

Select a storage location. Tap either Internal or SD Card, depending on where you downloaded the APK and cache files.

Tap Download. It's a folder in the selected storage location. This will open a list of your recently downloaded files. You may have to scroll down to find this folder.

Long-press the cache file. Locate the cache file that you just downloaded, then tap and hold it until a pop-up menu appears.

Tap Copy to…. It's in the pop-up menu. If the cache file was downloaded in a zipped folder, tap Unzip to... in this menu instead.

Navigate to the "obb" folder. To do so: Tap Storage Tap your current storage location (SD Card or Internal). Tap Android Tap obb

Tap PASTE HERE. This blue button is at the bottom of the screen. Doing so will copy the cache file into your Android's "obb" folder. Since cache files are usually several hundred megabytes in size, this process may take several minutes. If your file was in a zipped folder, you'll tap UNZIP HERE instead.
