Germany: Werder Bremen have signed Argentine forward Franco Di Santo on a free transfer from English side Wigan. The Bundesliga club say the 24-year-old Di Santo signed a three-year deal after undergoing a medical on Tuesday. He is currently in England but expected in Bremen for his presentation on Thursday.
Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin describes Di Santo as a "robust striker" with experience in a major league and "still enough potential for development."
Di Santo played for Chilean side Audax Italiano then transferred to Chelsea in 2008 before spending one year on loan at Blackburn Rovers and switching in 2010 to Wigan, which was relegated last season from the Premier League. He has made two appearances for Argentina.
