Manchester: Manchester City have added experience to their midfield for the Premier League title run-in by signing Chile international David Pizarro on loan from Roma for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old Pizarro played under City manager Roberto Mancini when both were at Inter Milan, before joining Roma in 2006. He won the Serie A title, the Italian Super Cup and Coppa Italia with Inter.

City manager Roberto Mancini claimed only on Monday that no players would be brought in during the final days of the transfer window, but has been given the opportunity to add depth to his midfield.

With Owen Hargreaves struggling to regain full fitness after joining City on a free transfer last summer, Mancini has been looking to add another central midfielder to his squad to cover for Yaya Toure, Gareth Barry and Nigel de Jong.

Pizarro has struggled for first-team football at Roma this season since former Barcelona man Luis Enrique became head coach. He has played just seven times in the league for Roma this season.

Without an English title since 1968, City only lead Manchester United on goal difference after losing 1-0 at Everton on Tuesday.

Elsewhere at City on deadline day, young Swiss defender Frederic Veseli joined Manchester United and left-back Wayne Bridge moved on loan to Sunderland.
