Mumbai: Football fans in Kolkata can have a glimpse of the 6.175 kg solid gold FIFA World Cup Trophy when it arrives in the city on December 22 from Kathmandu, Nepal.
The trophy, which would be intensely fought for in Brazil next year, is currently in Bhutan and is all set to fly to Kathmandu on Saturday before reaching Kolkata on Sunday for a three-day football festivity, said a media release on Friday.
The global tour of the trophy, which bears the engraved years and name of each FIFA World Cup winner since 1974, is organised by Coca-Cola and spans 88 countries in 9 months.
At the end of its third global tour, world football's greatest prize would have travelled 1,49,576 kms and over 8 lakh people would have taken part in the exercise, the release added.
