London: Eden Hazard and Diego Costa scored as Premier League leader Chelsea responded to their first loss of the season with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Hull.
Hazard scored his eighth goal of the season in the seventh minute, and Hull midfielder Tom Huddlestone was dismissed on the hour after being shown a second yellow card for a reckless studs-up challenge on Filipe Luis.
Hazard then turned provider in the 68th as Costa scored his first goal in five games to seal the win. It came a week after Chelsea's uneaten start to the season was ended by Newcastle.
Chelsea remains three points ahead of Manchester City, who won 1-0 at Leicester.
In another match, Southampton had a penalty saved and went on to lose their fourth straight Premier League match on Saturday, beaten 1-0 by Burnley at Turf Moor.
Danny Ings set up Ashley Barnes to score the only goal in the 73rd minute with a right-foot shot from the left side of the area.
Southampton were awarded a penalty after George Boyd brought down Ryan Bertrand but Dusan Tadic's penalty was saved in the 60th minute by Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
Burnley provisionally move out of the relegation zone while Southampton stay fifth.
The toothless attacking forces of Crystal Palace and Stoke canceled each other out in an uninspiring 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Saturday.
James McArthur headed his first goal in 15 games to give Palace the lead after 11 minutes. But Stoke striker Peter Crouch equalized inside two minutes, tapping in Jon Walter's deflected shot.
But 11th-place Stoke struggled to match the performance that produced a win over Arsenal last weekend. Palace's patchy run of one win in 10 games has left the London club only one point above the relegation zone.
