Margao: Dempo SC has signed Costa Rican midfielder Carlos Hernandez as its marquee player for the 2014-15 season.

Hernandez is currently playing for home club Cartagines in the Costa Rican Premier League. He will miss the Federation Cup as he is expected to join the team on January 15, a club official said.

With Hernandez, Dempo completed signing four foreign players, who include Aussie striker Tolgay Ozbey, Afghan captain Haroon Amiri and England centre back Calum Angus.

Hernandez was part of the Costa Rican squad that took part in the 2006 Fifa World Cup in Germany, but managed only two substitute appearances against Ecuador and Poland.

He is no longer part of the national squad, but famously scored from along ranger against France in his last international match for Costa Rica.

Hernandez, 32, previously played for Prayag United during the 2012-13 I-League and then switched allegiance to Wellington Phoenix in the A-League.
