Panaji: Churchill Brothers, who have been tottering at the bottom of the I-League table, have signed up Syrian striker Yasser Shahen in a bid to bolster their attack.
The 24-year-old Shahen, who has travelled along with the team to Kolkata, will play his first match against Mohammedan Sporting on November 23, an official release said.
Shahen is currently a member of Syrian senior national team and also Syrian U-23 national side. He represented Syrian U-23 national team in the Mediterranean Games 2009 in Italy and even score a goal in their first match of the group stage against Italy. Shahen's last club was Al-Hidd in Bahrain.
Another foreigner, Egyptian midfielder Shabana, who is also along with the team, is expected to replace Portuguese medio Hugo Machado in the centre of Churchill's midfield.
