Atletico pressure Real Madrid with 2-0 win at Betis

Madrid: Atletico Madrid beat 10-man Real Betis 2-0 on Sunday in the Spanish league to increase the pressure on Real Madrid ahead of their clasico with Barcelona. Atletico are tied on 70 points with Madrid.

Gabi Fernandez opened the scoring with a long-range blast in the 58th minute, shortly after Betis were reduced to 10 men when Bryan Rodriguez was shown a second yellow card for blatantly swiping at the ball with his hand.

Koke picked out Diego Costa with a smart header inside the area in the 64th for the Spain striker to score his 23rd league goal. Last-placed Betis are nine points from safety with nine rounds to play.
