Gitika Ganju Dhar also urged the audiences not to judge the show by its reviews. Read on to know what she has to say.

When the second season of Tanaav was released earlier this month, it did not receive the expected reviews. Several social media users argued that the show was weak in comparison to its first season. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, actress Gitika Ganju Dhar, who played the role of Nafeesa in Tanaav 2, also opened up about the mixed reviews that the Sudhir Mishra directorial has been getting.

“The reviews for any piece of art better be mixed otherwise someone is lacing them! From comments like – Riveting drama with thrilling moments, a gripping political revenge saga to calling it edgy and an intense socio-political drama, I am reading positive opinions. I think it has a very real feel in terms of its filming,” she told us.

Gitika further urged the audiences not to judge the show by its reviews and added, “No soul can be braver than a screenwriter or filmmaker putting their labours of love out there into the world for everyone to see. The business of critique today is a very complex business. I also feel that there is an increasing disconnect between what critics prefer and what audiences do. And so, I wonder whether it’s worth pleasing a select bunch of highbrows at the cost of a larger viewership. I think the audience knows that too.”

Gitika, who was previously seen in Laal Singh Chadha, also explained that as an actor one cannot do much about the reviews because they are a “part and parcel of the profession.” “If reviews have the power to scare you, that just means you know that you are not good enough as an artist or you have not essayed the part to the best of your capability,” she shared.

“My job is to act and deliver a natural and authentic performance. The rest is not in my hands. Yes, one does feel sad if a film or a show is not received well. But with time, one gets over it,” she concluded.
