At Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI)’s IPL match in Eden Garden on Saturday (May 11), Rituparna Sengupta joined KKR co-owner Juhi Chawla, Suhana Khan, Ananya Panday and Shanaya Kapoor in the stands. They were seen having a blast and candid pictures of their rendezvous went viral. What added to their joy was KKR’s win against MI by 18 runs.
Speaking about their little catch-up session during the game, Rituparna exclusively tells News18 Showsha, “It was really nice meeting Juhi after such a long time. She had invited me for the first ever KKR match in Eden Garden. She, in fact, invites me to watch every match in Kolkata. This time around, I had a very hectic schedule but I somehow dropped in even though it was raining that day. I’m happy that KKR won the match.”
Rituparna and Juhi may not have collaborated on a film but the former reveals that they share a ‘long association’ and a deep bond. The following day, Juhi also sent her a text message thanking for making it to the game. “Juhi asked me about my son and was talking about how quickly time flies! Juhi and Jai (Mehta) wanted me to stay longer but I couldn’t because I had to rush back to a shoot and then catch a flight back to Singapore that night. In fact, they had both come to my son’s second or third birthday,” she fondly recalls.
Reacting to her viral pictures with Ananya, Suhana and Shanaya, Rituparna shares that it was particularly ‘lovely’ hanging out and connecting with them as she has worked with their dads in the past. She reveals that she spoke to Shanaya about her experience of working with her father, Sanjay Kapoor, on the film Unns: Love Forever.
The National Award-winning actor adds, “Ananya went home and told Chunky (Panday) that she met me and he had texted me after that. Chunky and I’ve worked together on many films. He was my co-star in my first Hindi film titled Teesra Kaun and in another Hindi film, Tirchhi Topiwale. We’ve also starred in a few Bangadeshi films.”
Rituparna also took the opportunity and congratulated Suhana on her upcoming film titled King that also stars Shah Rukh Khan. “Suhana asked me about my son. A few years back, they really got along during one of the KKR matches. I remember doing an ad film with Shah Rukh long back. It was nice meeting so many youngsters. I also got to chat with Juhi’s children – Jhanvi and Arjun. They’re so well-behaved,” she tells us.
She’s elated with KKR being the first team to enter the playoffs. Hoping for them to win this IPL season, Rituparna says, “My best wishes are always with KKR. I’m a big supporter of them. I wish for them to stay focused and play the game well right till the end. I remember the day when they had won IPL for the first time. Shah Rukh, Juhi and I danced the night away, cut cakes and kept singing Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo Re.”
