Kalki 2898 AD: Is Kyra Still Alive? Anna Ben Says Nag Ashwin Gave Her This Cryptic Answer | Exclusive
Anna Ben states how Dulquer Salmaan's presence in Kalki 2898 AD sent audiences into a tizzy. She hopes for her character Kyra to be a part of Kalki's sequel.

Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD is a true-blue pan-Indian film. The star-studded cast includes actors from different parts of the country including Prabhas (Telugu cinema), Kamal Haasan (Tamil cinema) and Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone (Hindi cinema). It seems like even the cameos of Disha Patani, Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Shobana, Brahmanandam, and Anna Ben decided to keep the pan-Indian spirit in mind.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Anna — who plays Kyra in the film, shares that she’s filled with joy and pride as Kalki 2898 AD ‘beautifully represents’ the Malayalam film industry. “It’s an amazing thing that we could have an Indian film that could represent us at a global film. It’s an Indian film in every sense of the word. Right from the casting to the technicians involved, every industry is involved in the making of this film. Every actor has done a fantastic job and we can all be proud of that,” she says.

Anna added that her colleagues like actor Manju Warrier and scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran rooted for her and Shobana. “My colleagues from my industry are so happy to see me and Shobana ma’am representing Kerala by being a part of such a big film. A lot of people from the industry called me and told me that they were very happy to see me even though it’s a small part. I’ve received a lot of love and they were elated to see my name in the list of people who feature in the film,” she says.

The Kumbalangi Nights and Helen actor, who had earlier revealed that Dulquer Salman’s cameo was her favourite in the film, tells us that his presence in the film thrilled the Malayalam audience and that she’s equally excited to belong to the same industry as him. “Dulquer’s a national star and not just a Malayalam star now. His coming to the project has shifted so many things because he has a huge fan base here,” she states.

Anna adds, “Even when the film was announced and there were some speculations that he’s a part of it, everybody was curious. When his face came onscreen, people just went crazy and that gave me such a proud feeling knowing that we’re a part of the same industry, which was being represented in a beautiful way.”

In the second half of Kalki 2898 AD, it has been hinted that Kyra dies. However, fan theories suggest otherwise. So, will she be a part of the sequel? “I’ve also been wondering the same. During the shoot, I became friends with the ADs. They were rooting for my character and were also hoping that my character comes back at some point. I asked Nagi sir about it but he didn’t say anything because he’s a man of few words. He just smiled and told, ‘I don’t know. Maybe. Let’s see.’ So, I guess we’ll have to wait and watch. I’ll be very happy if she comes back,” says Anna.
