The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2024 results have been the subject of much debate, particularly in light of recent issues being raised by students, parents and the teaching community. Several NEET (UG) – 2024 applicants filed Writ Petitions with the Hon’ble High Courts due to lost exam time at a few centres. A Grievance Redressal Committee was constituted to review grievances and representations based on factual reports and CCTV footage from exam centres. Candidates who lost time were given compensating marks.

2.How were the Compensatory (grace) marks calculated?

In accordance with the formula established by the Hon’ble Apex Court in its judgement of June 13, 2018, in W.P. 551 of 2018, the candidates’ examination time loss was calculated, and marks were awarded depending on how well they answered and how much time they lost. 1563 applicants received compensation for lost time.

8.What happened at a Centre at Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan?

At the Girl’s Higher Secondary Model School in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, a mix-up occurred where the Centre Superintendent mistakenly distributed Hindi medium question papers to English medium candidates and vice versa. This error led to agitation among some candidates, who left the center with the question papers despite staff efforts to stop them. These papers were circulated on social media around 4:25 PM, creating a false impression of a leak. However, all centers were under CCTV surveillance, preventing external access once the exam began. The affected candidates retook the exam with the correct papers on the same day, May 5, 2024, ensuring their academic progress was not disrupted.

9.Has the NEET (UG) curriculum for 2024 been revised?

Yes, the curriculum for NEET (UG)-2024 has been revised. The curriculum has been cut back by 22 to 25% compared to the previous year. The goal of the revision was to concentrate on the fundamental concepts of each subject and to simplify the content of the course.
