It is often said that our past mistakes follow us. Sometimes, we feel the repercussions of the mistakes years later. A similar thing happened to an IAS officer from Himachal Pradesh. He is currently facing the consequences of a mistake he made ten years ago. As per reports, he appeared for an IBPS clerk recruitment examination on behalf of another candidate in 2014. Official complaints were registered and the CBI handled the investigation.
In the same year, Naveen Tanwar was arrested along with another person. A few days later, he was released on bail. In 2019, he cracked the UPSC examination and joined the civil services as an IAS officer.
According to reports, Naveen Tanwar was a brilliant student since his schooling days. He studied engineering at IIT Delhi. After completing his studies, he started preparing for the UPSC examination. Amid the investigation, he continued his studies and cracked the toughest exam in the country. He secured an excellent All-India Rank of 158. According to the cadre list issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, Naveen scored 1880.43 in the examination.
The 2019 batch IAS officer was suspended a few days ago on the accusation of the 10-year-old case. In May, Naveen was found guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison following which he was suspended from office. CBI Judicial Magistrate Shivam Verma announced the verdict. A fine of Rs 50,00 was also imposed on Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Tanwar. He was later granted bail by the CBI court.
Naveen was the Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in the Chamba district. Sources mentioned that on December 13, 2014, Tanwar appeared for the IBPS recruitment at the Ideal Institute of Technology in Ghaziabad on behalf of a candidate named Amit Singh. As the investigation continued for a long time, CBI arrested the all six accused members of the team.
