CBSE Warns Against Fraud Agra-based Body For Organising Sports Events Using Board’s Name

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently issued a notice. In this regard, all the schools affiliated with the CBSE board have been warned to remain alert. According to reports, in the notice issued by the CBSE board, schools have been asked to beware of a fake sports organisation. CBSE has warned that an institution is organising sports by misusing the name of the board. In the notice issued by the CBSE board, it is clearly written that an Agra-based organisation called CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO), is misusing the name of CBSE to stage sports events and participate in sports competitions held by SGFI and other sports bodies. It is important to be cautious of such fake organisations to avoid any major problems in the future.

What is written in the notice of the CBSE Board?

The notice of the Central Board of Secondary Education states that CBSE has been affiliated with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) since July 2008. It cites SGFI’s letter number 994/SGFI/2024-25, dated July 8, 2024. According to this letter, from 2024–25, the winners of the CBSE National Games will participate in the SGFI National School Games organised by SGFI every year.

CBSE shrugged off the responsibility

CBSE has issued a press release. It has exposed the misuse of the board’s name by the organisation. They are organising sports events and encouraging CBSE-affiliated schools to participate in them. Many schools have unknowingly participated in these events. CBSE has started legal action against this act. It has no connection with CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO), Agra (UP).

For the uninitiated, CBSE is affiliated with the School Games Federation of India, effective July 8. Accordingly, from 2024–25 academic year onwards, the winners of the CBSE National Games will participate in the SGFI National School Games organised by SGFI every year, the central board said in an official notification.

CBSE has notified that an organisation is using the name of CBSE while organising sports events while also participating in sports competitions being organised by SGFI and other sports bodies.
