'We've Seen Him Over the Years, Knows What His Game His': Rohit Lauds Jadeja's All-round Performance in Rajkot Test
Rohit Sharma praised Ravindra Jadeja's stellar performance at Rajkot and highlighted that the all-rounder has been a consistent performer at home and away.

Following India’s massive victory over England in the third Test at Rajkot, the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma was happy with the performance of Ravindra Jadeja who scored a century in the first innings and finished with a fifer in the second innings to help the hosts take the lead in the series 2-1.

Speaking at the press conference, Rohit praised Jadeja’s consistent performance over the years and also recognized his ability to recognize the conditions as well.

“Jaddu, we’ve seen him over the years. He understands the conditions really well, he knows exactly what the game is, what his game is, and then he goes and does it, backs it up,” the skipper said.

Jadeja has a stellar first-class record at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot representing Saurashtra where he has played 12 matches racking up 1564 runs at an average of 142.18 which include four fifties and six centuries and a top score of 331.

Rohit also highlighted his good record at home but also appreciated his ability to deliver outside home conditions as well. He added,” This is his hometown. More than anyone else he knows these conditions better. If you see the past couple of years, he’s actually, come out and scored some crucial runs for us, whether it’s in India or outside as well.”

The left-handed all-rounder has been a regular contributor with both bat and ball in the Test team which prompted the side to promote him up the order in the 3rd Test ahead of Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel.

“He’s batting really well and the confidence, which is why we thought of sending him up the order,” Rohit said.

With the ball as well Jadeja managed to come back with a strong performance by bowling out the English batting order within the fourth day of the Test by picking up a fifer and securing the win. Rohit commented on his role when Jadeja is bowling, he added,” There’s not much to tell him. My job is to make sure that I set the right field for him.”

With two more games left in the series, Jadeja will continue to be a big player who can change the fortunes of the hosts as they aim to secure the series with the next Test taking place at Ranchi.
