Former Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan is all set to make his debut in the Legends League Cricket, scheduled to begin on September 20. He appears to be training hard ahead of the tournament. Dhawan recently shared glimpses of an intense practice session on Instagram.

In the video, the Southpaw can be spotted training in the nets. He showcased some classy reverse sweeps and pull shots. Considering his shot selection and footwork, it seems the 38-year-old is ready to wreak havoc at the Legends League Cricket. “Feels good to be back,” read the post.

Following his international retirement, Shikhar Dhawan is now set to ply his trade in franchise T20 competitions apart from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Legends League Cricket also marks Dhawan’s first competitive tournament since April. The Punjab Kings captain was last seen in action earlier this season in IPL and missed the second half of the tournament due to injury issues.

Shikhar Dhawan will be keen to make a roaring comeback at the upcoming event where he will represent the Gujarat Greats. Apart from Dhawan, some other legendary players like Chris Gayle, Mohammed Kaif and S Sreesanth will be part of the team. Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, Chennai Super Kings legend Suresh Raina and former South Africa cricketer Hashim Amla will also be seen in action representing other teams in the tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan revealed his decision to retire from international cricket sharing an emotional video message. He thanked all the Indian fans while also extending gratitude to his friends and family. The veteran batter also admitted that it was a privilege for him to don the Blue jersey for India and represent the country on the global stage.

“It’s important to turn the page to move forward in life and that’s why I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket. I am leaving with peace in my heart that I played so long for India. I’ve told myself, ‘Don’t feel sad that you won’t play for India anymore but feel happy that you played for the country,” Shikhar Dhawan had said.

Shikhar Dhawan featured in 167 ODIs, 68 T20Is and 34 Tests during his illustrious international career. He aggregated 10,867 runs across all three formats of the game.
