England captain Jos Buttler stunned David Miller with a lightning-fast fielding effort in a T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 clash against South Africa on Friday. Buttler’s excellent throw saw Heinrich Klaasen being run out at the non-striker’s end.
Put in to bat first, opener Quinton de Kock led a flying start for South Africa, stitching an opening partnership of 86 runs with Reeza Hendricks.

After the duo’s return to the pavilion, Klaasen and Miller took over the charge.
In the 14th over, Mark Wood bowled a short delivery to Klaasen who backed away and the pacer followed the South African resulting in a wide which was left alone.
Wicketkeeper Buttler failed to collect the ball and Miller saw the opportunity to sneak in a bye.
Klaasen was a bit late to react and Buttler quickly collected the ball on second attempt and hit the bull’s eye the non-striker’s end with Klaasen yet to make his ground.
Miller looked rattled at the turn of events as Klaasen quickly began his charge off the field.

De Kock’s 65-run knock built the foundation of South Africa’s match winning total of 163/6. Miller captialised with a quickfire 43, an innings featuring four fours and two sixes.
England faced an early batting collapse during the chase, with all three top-order batters failing to breach the 20-run mark. Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone stepped up to bring England back into the contest.
They built an inning-reviving 78-run partnership before Kagiso Rabada sent off Livingstone. Brook then fell to Anrich Nortje in the last over after scoring his first-ever half-century in the T20 World Cup.
Nortje successfully defended 14 runs as South Africa won the crucial Super 8 fixture by seven runs.
