Kohli continues to be away from cricket on paternity leave but is expected to join his IPL franchise RCB in the coming few days.

“Kohli is expected to join in the next few days,” a BCCI source, who is tracking developments within IPL teams, was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Kohli, a former RCB captain, is the all-time leading run-getter in IPL history with 7263 runs from 237 matches including seven centuries and 50 half-centuries.

RCB will kickstart their campaign when they take on title holders Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidamabaram Stadium in the season opener on March 22.

After another underwhelming performance last year, RCB appointed Andy Flower as their new head coach for the season.

“I think he’s (Flower) an incredible coach. So I feel team is very lucky to have him, kind and big hearted man,” said RCB captain Faf du Plessis.

Flower, who coach Lucknow Super Giants for two seasons, overseeing back-to-back playoffs qualifications, is excited to start the write the next chapter in RCB story.

“New chapter to write in RCB story, we have been given the chance to write and it is a privilege, something to be very excited about,” said Flower.

RCB have never won IPL in their history having finished as the runners-up thrice in the past.
