With India’s Zimbabwe tour concluding on Sunday, the team will have a break of nearly two weeks before returning to action in Sri Lanka where they are scheduled to play three T20Is and as many ODIs starting July 27.
The tour will be Gautam Gambhir’s first as India head coach after succeeding Rahul Dravid into the role whose reign ended with the team becoming 2024 T20 World Cup winners last month.

A young India squad, led by Shubman Gill, has taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe and the captain has praised his team hoping the players will be persisted with going forward.
“This is a great team, great bunch of players. Hopefully, we will be able to take the team forward,” Gill said after India’s 10-wicket win in the 4th T20I on Saturday.
With Indian team entering a new phase as three of their senior players – Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja – having retired from T20Is, the youngsters and those on the fringes are hoping to get enough opportunities to prove their credentials.
India have given debuts to as many as four players in the ongoing T20I series including Abhishek Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag and Tushar Deshpande.
Meanwhile, Gill is pleased that the team has won their first match of the tour while chasing. They lost the series opener to Zimbabwe while failing to chase a small target of 116 before bouncing back to win three on the trot – two of them while defending.
“Chasing was one thing we talked about. We could not do it in the first game, so good to get it done. The job is not done, though,” Gill said.
With India having secured the series, will there be changes?
“Haven’t had the discussion with the coach. If there are any changes, we will let you know at the toss tomorrow,” Gill said.
The fifth and final T20I of the tour will be played today at the Harare Sports Club.
