'Only Brave People Get Lucky': Ajay Jadeja Hails Rishabh Pant's Team-first Approach; Feels 'Numbers Don't Matter to Him'
The former Indian cricketer, Ajay Jadeja believes that it is Rishabh Pant's risk-taking approach that makes him brave and hailed his team-first approach after making his return to Test Cricket.

The former Indian cricketer, Ajay Jadeja sees a lot of Rohit Sharma’s best qualities in the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant. Jadeja sees both players have a similar approach to their game.

Reflecting on Pant’s century against Bangladesh for the first Test in Chennai, Jadeja reckons that the 26-year-old does not play for the numbers but rather wants to help his team. He also suggested that Pant is willing to take on the challenge that is up against him as well.

Jadeja said during a discussion on Colors Cineplex, “He showed yesterday (Saturday) as well that numbers don’t matter to him. His approach remained the same after scoring a century as well. He could have gotten out earlier as well, a catch was dropped, he was a little lucky, and only brave people get the luck,” as quoted by Cricket Addictor.

The wicketkeeper-batter made his highly awaited return to Test cricket with a statement century. Now he will hope that he can continue this run of form which Jadeja backs the star man to do.

“I feel the doubts were only in our minds or the fans’ minds because when you love someone, you think something wrong should not happen. He is a positive guy. Now that he has got a start like this, he will only get better,” he shared.

Interestingly, Jadeja believes that Pant is yet to be tested when it comes to playing that match-saving role. But the former Indian player believes that Pant has the necessary tools to be that man for the national team as well.

“He has not yet got to bat where you needed him a lot when you couldn’t have saved the game without him. His rarity is that he is always able to perform on the day when it’s needed the most. When it’s required, this rare gem will shine even more,” he added.

Pant will be in whites yet again as he is likely to be the starting choice wicketkeeper-batter for the Indian team who will take on Bangladesh in the second Test set to be played in the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on September 27.
