MS Dhoni Refused Crores of Rupees Contract: Bat Manufacturer Shares 'Thala's' Heartwarming Gesture
Somi Kohli, the owner of BAS, in a viral video revealed how MS Dhoni rejected a contract worth crores to feature the logo on his bat.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, arguably India’s greatest captain, is lauded for his demenour on and off the field with the captain cool’s actions warming the hearts of his fans.

Under Dhoni, India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup and a Champions Trophy as well as reaching the top of ICC Test rankings for the first time.

Recently the story of MSD’s kind heart went viral on social media. The story behind the bat manufacturer BAS, whose bat Dhoni used during the early days of his career, took the internet by storm.

Somi Kohli, the owner of BAS, in a viral video revealed how Dhoni rejected a contract worth crores and even refused to accept any payment for using the bat manufacturer’s sticker. This Kohli explained was Dhoni’s way of repaying help during his initial days as a cricketer.

“Dhoni did not mention any money. He just said ‘put your stickers on my bats and send them across’. I tried to convince him, ‘You’re letting go of such a lucrative contract’. He refused crores of rupees worth of contract. I requested his wife Sakshi, his father, mother. Even told his CA and Paramjit from Ranchi. They all went to his home before the World Cup. But he said ‘No… it is my decision’," Mr. Kohli said in a video on Sports Launchpad YouTube channel.

Dhoni was recently seen batting in the nets as the legendary cricketer preapres for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The viral photo shows Dhoni playing with a ‘Prime Sports’ bat in the nets.

‘Prime Sports’ is the name of sports goods store-turned-company in Ranchi, which is owned by Dhoni’s friend Paramjit Singh.

“I am feeling very proud of him. He has always been there for us. And this is our friendship. Friendship No. 1," Paramjit was quoted as saying by Aaj Tak.

The story was chronicled in the hindi language movie ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’.
