IND vs ENG, 3rd Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja Fire India to Record-breaking 434-run Win on Day 4
India completed a one-sided win over England in Rajkot Test inside four days to storm to 434-run win

Ravindra Jadeja took a five-wicket haul after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double-century to propel India to a record 434-run win over England on the fourth day of the third Test in Rajkot on Sunday. The win is India’s biggest ever by run-margin in the history of Tests.

Having set England a record 557-run to win, India never allowed them even a semblance of hope after getting rid of both their openers right before the tea break. Ben Duckett was run out on 4 while Ravindra Jadeja trapped Zak Crawley LBW on 11, leaving them struggling at 18/2.

In the final session, Jadeja ran through England’s batting line-up as they looked at sea with the ball gripping and turning on a pitch that was still quite good for batting. However, the superior skills of India bowlers meant England suffered a massive batting collapse and at one stage were 50/7.

In danger of being bowled out for a double-digit total, Mark Wood spared them the blushes with six fours and a six before becoming the last wicket to fall, becoming Jadeja’s fifth victim.

England were bowled out for a mere 122 in 39.4 overs.

The victory margin is India’s biggest in their Test history, surpassing the previous run-margin of 372 runs against New Zealand in Mumbai 2021. Jadeja, who finished with 5/41, completed the double of a century and a five-for in a Test for the second time in his career.

It was a thoroughly dominating performance from India on the penultimate day with Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten 214, a record innings during which he belted 14 fours and a record-equaling 12 sixes.

Shubman Gill was unlucky to miss out on a century after being run out on 91 and debutant Sarfaraz Khan continued to live up the hype with another sparkling half-century, a strokeful 72-ball 68* with the help of six fours and three sixes.

England did have their moments during the contest. They had reduced India to 33/3 after losing the toss and then blazed away to 207/2 in 35 overs at the close of play on Day 2. However, it was India who dominated them thoroughly especially on the third and fourth day.

India now lead the five-match series 2-1 with the fourth Test to start from February 23 in Ranchi.
