ICC Unveils New Stadium in New York Set to Host ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Matches
The 34,000-seater Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, set to host India-Pakistan clash among eight T20 World Cup matches was unveiled.

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York which is scheduled to host eight matches at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 was unveiled by the ICC on Wednesday.

The 34,000-seat stadium is set to host the most anticipated and high-profile fixture between India and Pakistan.

The design team behind the project, Populous, was also involved in the planning of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The wicket, a drop-in square similar to those used at Adelaide Oval and Eden Park, is currently being curated in Florida. It will be transported to New York in early May to be added to the stadium.

“We are excited to be unveiling the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024,” ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said.

It is an incredibly important milestone in the lead up to the biggest ICC event ever, with work commencing on the stadium which will be able to accommodate 34,000 cricket fans.”

“We are partnering with world-class suppliers to deliver the modular stadium to ensure that players and fans can enjoy an unforgettable experience across the eight matches in New York in June this year.”

The International Cricket Council had already announced the schedule for the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be played in the West Indies and United States of America. The T20 showpiece event will be held from June 1 to June 29. United States of America will face Canada in the tournament opener on June 1.

The final of the T20 World Cup will be played in Barbados on June 29.

Meanwhile, India will start their campaign against Ireland on June 5.

The marquee India vs Pakistan clash will be played on June 9 in New York. India and Pakistan are pooled alongside the USA, Ireland and Canada in Group A.

The last time India and Pakistan clashed in a T20 World Cup was at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2022 when the two teams produced a thriller and a Virat Kohli masterclass guided the Rohit Sharma-led side to a win for the ages.
