AUS vs WI, 2nd Test: Mitchell Starc Goes Past 350 Test Wickets on Day 1 at Gabba Against West Indies
The 33-year-old Aussie pacer reached the milestone as he got rid of Windies batsman Alick Athanaze, who was caught behind by Alex Carey.

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc became the fifth Australian bowler, and 27th overall in the history of the game, to take 350 test wickets after claiming three on the opening day of the second test against West Indies at the Gabba on Thursday.

The 33-year-old Aussie seamer reached the milestone when he had Alick Athanaze caught behind by wicketkeeper Alex Carey.

He had earlier picked up the scalp of Windies opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul when he was caught at slip by Steve Smith.

Starc made it 351 when he removed Justin Greaves with the last ball before the first break in the day-night match.

Starc, who now has 64 wickets in his 12 pink-ball Test at an average of 18 is a master in the day-night format of the game. What is even more astounding is the fact that Australia has won all 11 of his previous pink-ball Tests.

West Indies won the toss and opted to have a bat first, but were reduced to 64-5 as Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins added a wicket each to Starc’s exploits.

Australia hold a 1-0 series lead over the touring Windies following their commanding win at Adelaide in the opening Test of the two-match series.

The home side picked up a convincing 10-wicket win over the visitors at Adelaide as the Aussies managed to bundle out West Indies for just 188 runs in their first innings before posting a total of 283 in reply to take a 95-run lead.

Left-handed batter Travis Head stood out for the Aussies with his 119-run knock that steadied their innings.

The Windies barely managed to get past the lead as they totalled 120 runs in their second innings before being wrapped up by the hosts, who went on to polish off the game without losing a wicket in their second innings.
