10 Matches to Feature Decision Review System Technology in WBBL

Cricket Australia has confirmed three key changes to the Weber WBBL|10 Playing Conditions as part of its ongoing commitment to enhance the league.

In WBBL|10, 33 of 43 matches (77%) will include the Decision Review System. This is a significant increase on WBBL|09, where 24 of 59 matches (41%) featured DRS.

The 33 matches with DRS coverage this season include all 23 matches simulcast across The Seven Network, FOX SPORTS, 7plus and Kayo Sports. The additional 10 matches are exclusive to FOX SPORTS and Kayo Sports, with DRS inclusion made possible by an increase in broadcast specifications for those matches.

For the first time, every WBBL match will feature a TV Umpire. For the 10 non-DRS matches, the TV Umpire will be available for standard referrals such as run out, stumping and fair catch dismissals.

Additionally, an Innings Timer has been introduced for WBBL|10. Following its successful implementation in the KFC BBL, the Innings Timer will require the fielding side to be in position to bowl the first ball of the final over of the innings by 73 minutes playing time. Calculations and adjustments will be made in the event of a reduced game. Should the fielding side not meet this time, an extra fielder will be required to be positioned inside the inner circle for the remainder of the innings.

Weber WBBL|10 begins on Sunday, October 27, with a rematch of the WBBL|09 Final between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat at Adelaide Oval leading off a triple header on the day.
