Mumbai: CB Bhave, Chairman of SEBI feels that the current global financial situation is no cause for panic. He sees no panic in the Indian markets, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting NewsWire18.
He said that he would be monitoring the stock markets closely.
He feels India will come out stronger once the global crisis ends. He said that Sebi would take action if entities were found breaking short sale rules. He feels the Indian markets are resilient and does not see selling by the institutions.
Bhave said that the market settlement system is safe and sound and added that the settlement system has withstood much more volatility and that the settlement mechanism is time tested.
Bhave reiterates that there is no concern on institutions' short sale and said that the current regulations are adequate to deal with the market situation. He added that he would review the rules if required.
