New Delhi After spectacular pullback on Thursday the markets couldn’t continue its up trend and opened on bearish note on Friday despite positive global cues. The market was extremely volatile as it opened in green but drifted down within few minutes of trade.
At 0958 hrs, IST Sensex was down 88 points at 12961 and Nifty was down 19 points at 3741. Major gainers in the opening trade were Reliance, ONGC, ITC, Rel Comm, SBI, Gul Ambuja, Bharti and HLL.
However, Asian stocks rose for a fourth day across the Asia-Pacific basin on Friday, as strong gains in European and US markets raised hopes global equity markets have stabilized after recent sell-offs.
Japan's Nikkei gained 0.32% or 55.28 points at 17,145.59, Singapore's Straits Times rose 0.30% or 9.27 points ta 3,131.76. However, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted was down 0.12% or 9.45 points at 7,564.42 and South Korea's Seoul Composite plunged 0.27% or 3.87 points at 1,420.02.
