Mumbai/New Delhi: Along with its flights, Kingfisher's reputation appears to have hit an air pocket as well. Many passengers at the Kingfisher ticketing counter here in Mumbai said they won't be flying the airline anytime soon.
Travel agents say the airline's bookings too have taken a hit.
Sources say popular travel website operators who have bought the airline's tickets in bulk are finding it tough to offload them even at discounted prices. Fresh bookings have taken a nosedive.
Passengers whose flights have been cancelled allege they are caught between a rock and a hard place. Some say they had to pay high rates on other airlines for spot bookings.
The DGCA has warned other airlines against hiking fares, but says there is no evidence of malpractice.
DG DGCA Bharat Bhushan said, "There is no real evidence to suggest airlines are overcharging."
Kingfisher has assured the regulatory body it will normalise operations in the next 5-7 days.
But by then, the airline's reputation for being number one in passenger service could well have crashlanded.
