After Jet, now Kingfisher Airlines to revise fares
Kingfisher plans to revise basic fares from October 1.

Mumbai: Private air carrier Kingfisher Airlines plans to revise basic fares from October 1, an airline official said on Friday.

"The special off-peak fares that we were offering will now revert back to their original levels," a Kingfisher Airlines spokesperson told PTI.

This will be applicable to the basic fares and would be effective from October 1, the spokesperson said adding "the fare are being revised in view of the festival season."

He however, declined to give the quantum of increase saying that this should not be construed as a hike.

It is understood that the fares would go up by 5 per cent following the proposed revision.

"The hike will vary from sector to sector depending on the off-peak fares that were being offered. In any case it will not be more than 5 per cent," an official said on condition of anonymity.

Jet Airways likely to hike fares

The company said the airline is likely to hike its fares by 10 per cent.

“We are looking at raising the fares during the festive season. No concrete decision has been taken yet. But the increase will not be very high because of competition. It will not be in double-digit,” Jet Airways CEO, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer had said on Wednesday.

This will be the second hike for Jet Airways in the last two months. Sources tell CNN-IBN that other airlines may also follow suit and hike their fares.

Prock-Schauer said Jet Airways would be raising up to $800 million from the market in the next two years.
