On Thursday evening, she hosted the Hope Gala in London on Thursday evening to raise funds for underprivileged adolescents in India through the Salaam Bombay foundation. The actress has now dropped a bundle of photos from the event and also penned a thoughtful note.
The note read, “I had the great pleasure of hosting an evening that was truly special, brimming with so much love, purpose, and hope. The event was attended by musician Harshdeep Kaur, comedian Rohan Joshi and director Gurinder Chadha, among others. Alia donned two different outfits: a maroon dress for the red carpet and an cream, embroidered lace saree for the gala. The gala saw Alia backing the Salaam Bombay charity, which focuses on helping Mumbai’s most vulnerable children through in-school programs for leadership and advocacy, as well as after-school academies for skill-building. These initiatives aim to boost their confidence and self-esteem and encourage them to stay in school.
Meanwhile, Alia was caught blushing when the paparazzi called her Vahini (Bhabhi, in Marathi) when they spotted her leaving for the gala in London. She was seen at the Mumbai airport on late Wednesday evening. In a video shared on Instagram, the Gangubai Kathiawadi star was seen rushing to board her flight. Despite her schedule, Alia stopped to take a photo with a young fan. As she made her way to the departure gate, the cameramen present at the airport greeted her.
“Vahini namaskar,” said a cameraman. The greeting left her blushing. She smiled for the cameras and headed to her flight. A paparazzi also asked her about Ranbir Kapoor.
The actress has just finished shooting her upcoming film, Jigra, where she stars alongside Vedang Raina. This movie is co-produced by her production house and directed by Vasan Bala. Additionally, she has recently signed on for another project with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, titled Love and War, where she will be working again with her Gangubai Kathiawadi director. This film also stars Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor.
