Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar are understood to have been dropped from the roster of the WWE 2K24 video game featuring the names of playable wrestlers. Both individuals have been away from the company for quite some time now due to a lawsuit filed against McMahon last month. After the news came to light, the Wall Street Journal identified Lesnar as the unnamed WWE and UFC fighter, whose involvement was mentioned in the suit. As per the allegations by Janel Grant, she was abused and sexually exploited by McMahon while he was the chief executive.
The controversial incident has no doubt hugely impacted Lesnar’s wrestling career. The former WWE Heavyweight Champion was set to feature in all of the first three Premium Live Events of this year– Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 40. However, he has now been forced out of these events amid the ongoing legal proceedings regarding the lawsuit.
It also resulted in McMahon stepping down from his position as the Executive Chairman of TKO Group Holdings– the parent company of WWE. When the company released the official cover of the 2K24 Forty Years of WrestleMania edition earlier this month, fans were quick to spot the absence of Lesnar. The 46-year-old has lost another video game deal as the 2K has excluded his name from the popular WWE SuperCard mobile game.
Moreover, Lesnar did not feature in the introductory video package for WWE’s weekly television shows. His absence from the WWE 2K24 roster underlined the fact that the company is quite serious about protecting its image by keeping the superstar away from any happenings.
Apart from McMahon and Lesnar, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have also failed to find a place in the full roster of the WWE 2K24 game. There is a possibility for the duo to be roped in before the company releases the official roster video this week. The Deluxe and 40 Years of WrestleMania editions of WWE 2K24 are slated to be rolled out on March 5, while the standard edition will be released three days later.
