Navigating the world of modern-day dating can often feel like tiptoeing through a field littered with potential landmines. The rise of dating apps has introduced a realm where creating a deceptive online persona is all too easy, leading to the quest for genuine connections. TikTok star Danielle Gross found an unconventional way to navigate this landscape. In 2021, she applied to be part of a lighthearted marriage experiment initiated by content creator Gunnar Michels on TikTok. The contest invited women to apply for a marriage experiment that he would fully fund.

Having experienced her share of serious relationships, Danielle decided to take a chance and applied to be Gunnar’s pretend wife. After sorting through numerous applicants, Gunnar selected Danielle, impressed by her profile.

Within just two weeks, the pair met up and went on a road trip to Las Vegas, where Gunnar surprised Danielle with a bunch of red roses before proposing on one knee. The couple, who initially planned to divorce, decided to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day in a romantic ceremony in Las Vegas.

Surprisingly, after officially exchanging vows, Danielle and Gunnar discovered that they had developed genuine feelings for each other. Now, three years later, the couple remains happily married together.

The couple recently shared with their followers, “Our relationship isn’t perfect, but we got married as strangers, and here are some reasons why that worked for us.” Danielle revealed that they entered the relationship with no expectations, highlighting that they did not put pressure on things, which contributed to their journey.

Danielle further explained, “We had no outside influence from our friends and family, meaning there was nobody there to plant seeds of doubt about the other person.” She said that their connection might not have happened on dating apps due to height and age preferences, and later revealed that these characteristics aren’t as important when it comes to falling in love. “The experience allowed us to open our minds up to people outside of our typical dating pool,” Danielle remarked.

Now happily married, Danielle and Gunnar have ventured into creating content together, showcasing their journey and experiences on TikTok.
