Recently, a video made its way onto the internet, showcasing a collision between a biker and a car at a traffic signal in Mumbai. What set this incident apart was the ensuing debate over culpability when the bike rider, travelling on the wrong side of the road, made a turn assuming that oncoming cars from the opposite signal would come to a halt. To everyone’s surprise, a speeding car continued through the signal, colliding with the bike and causing both the rider and the vehicle to skid on the road.
Sharing the video on the micro-blogging site ‘X’, @RoadsOfMumbai captioned it, “Who will get booked according to Traffic Police in our country?” This sparked a flurry of opinions as people weighed in on who they believed was at fault, with both the bike rider and the car driver seemingly sharing the blame.

“The biker should definitely get booked. Not the car’s fault the biker didn’t look before turning” expressed one user. Another added, “First he’s on the wrong side of the road . Secondly He’s taken a rash turn without even looking anywhere . SCRAP HIS BIKE & CANCEL HIS LICENCE FOR REST OF HIS LIFE.” A third person concurred, stating, “Biker, arrest him and cancel his license.”
Those who found the car at fault also voiced their opinions. “Car driver for sure as lawlessness in Mumbai is accepted fact and reality,” asserted one. Another commented, “Car driver for rash and negligent driving. He should be aware that 2 wheeler riders have handle and no steering so they can take turn any side.”

Amidst the serious discussions, some injected humour into the conversation. One quipped, “The person who recorded this incident,” while another hilariously remarked, “According to our traffic rules .. the one who followed the rules will be booked .. the Maruti which is blocking both .. car and bike vision should be booked.”
Humour aside, Mumbai Police took note of the viral video and responded, “We request you to provide exact location details for further action.”
