The internet is full of bizarre videos and one such video that shows massive objects being lifted out of a crane, in the middle of the city, is going viral. The most surprising thing is that these objects are not any kind of garbage or soil or debris but a large number of bikes. Yes, it is true. This incident happened in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands in Europe.
In the video, bikes are being pulled out as if they were fish being caught. It was posted from an Instagram account with the handle, @pubity, a page where entertaining videos are being posted, has about 38.8 million followers, with the caption “How do they all get in there?”, and has received 8 million views. Many people have shared their feedback by commenting on the video.
A user commented sarcastically that he was sure that he parked his cycle right there. While another user questioned in the comment section using crying emojis, who is throwing bikes in the river? Another user commented that it is like cart fishing in trailer park boys. Another user commented that, unlike London and Paris, people in Amsterdam clean up their mess in their river. A user yet again commented that the water turned black because of these elements on it.
This video has drawn people’s attention on social media. However, it became a matter of concern for a section of people, while it also became a source of entertainment for others.
Nevertheless, people from other countries are less aware of the fact that Amsterdam is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world and it is often said that the number of bicycles in the city is more than the number of its residents. Hence, it is unsurprising that the bicycles often get submerged in 165 canals of the city with a total length of about 96.5 kilometres.
