The rigorous study schedules of students aspiring to crack some of the most difficult exams in the country have time and again become a point of discussion. Recently, a timetable of an IIT aspirant has gone viral and has triggered a debate. Recently, Dr. Shraddhey Katiyar, an internal medicine specialist based out of Noida, supported the approach and stated that one needed to work hard in order to achieve bigger goals in life.
The doctor shared his own experience and mentioned that he and his brother, an IIT-Delhi alumnus, followed a similar rigid routine during their preparatory phase. This kind of a schedule led to their success, with Dr Shraddhey Katiyar being admitted to one of the country’s best government medical universities and his brother earning a seat at IIT-Delhi before migrating to the United States. The doctor stated, “Telling you there is no shortcut.”
Me and my brother almost followed the same routine for 3 years , I got one of the best govt medical college and he got a good branch @ IIT Delhi, now settled in US . Telling you there is no shortcut . https://t.co/2a8n65P2hL— Dr SHRADDHEY KATIYAR (@Wegiveyouhealt1) March 21, 2024
Many agreed to the doctor’s argument. One user said, “Almost for everything that you want to achieve requires grit and sustained effort. Might sound repetitive or boring but that makes you stand apart from rest. That makes you one whom the rest will look upto in times to come.”
However, many objected to setting such rigorous rules. “That’s why children do suicide. Thank you for your gyan. Success does not mean settling in the USA or being a doctor. people are living more successful and most importantly happy lives without following this routine,” said one. Another noted, “To kya ukhad liya? Stop praising mediocrity and rat race. Today people are scoring high marks in so-called competitive exams like UPSC, JEE, GATE, NEET but their aptitude is quite low. Even what they are doing is also conventional, no innovation, no creativity. Padho aur niklo.”
But nothing is absolute here. Set yourself according to your capability. Don't copy and apply the same solution for different problems.— Jerry (@prabhak_amar) March 21, 2024

The viral time table shared on X described the daily routine of the user’s friend. According to the plan, the aspirant wakes up about 4:30 am after sleeping at midnight and getting only 4.5 hours of sleep. The first 2.5 hours in the morning are dedicated to “revising previous chapters”. The person then gets ready and works on “classwork” from 7:45 to 10 a.m and so on and so forth. In between, the aspirant had detonated time to take short naps and eat meals. The day finally ends at 11:45 pm.
