Taylor Swift has achieved enormous success in the music industry. Even her pet cat Olivia Benson has emerged as a significant figure. According to a recent report by BBC, Olivia Benson, named after the beloved character from Law and Order: SVU, has amassed an estimated net worth of a staggering $97 million (Rs 774.397), surpassing even the wealth of Swift’s partner, football player Travis Kelce.
The revelation comes from Cats.com, a website that tracks the earnings of celebrity pets, which indicates that Olivia Benson’s fortune primarily stems from her appearances in television commercials and Swift’s music videos, including hits like Blank Space and Me!. While the net worth of Swift’s other cats, Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button remains undisclosed, Olivia Benson’s financial competence is undeniable.
Despite her considerable wealth, Olivia Benson falls short of claiming the title of the wealthiest celebrity pet, a distinction currently held by Gunther VI, a German Shepherd reportedly worth a staggering $500 million (Rs 4,150.5 crores). Additionally, she trails behind Nala Cat, an Instagram sensation boasting 4.5 million followers.
However, financial experts caution against taking such figures at face value. Travis Brown, a seasoned financial advisor overseeing billions in assets, highlights the challenges of accurately assessing a celebrity’s net worth, let alone that of their pets. He explains to BBC that the intricacies of personal finances make it difficult for outsiders to make accurate estimations, emphasizing the speculative nature of online calculators used by sites like Cats.com.
Jen Reid, founder of BASE Financial Management, echoes Brown’s sentiment, emphasising the limitations of online net worth calculators, especially when dealing with high-earning individuals like Taylor Swift. Reid emphasises that while these calculators may provide a glimpse into a celebrity’s potential wealth, they often overlook crucial factors such as expenses, investments and other financial obligations, BBC added.
Nevertheless, the burgeoning wealth of celebrity pets like Olivia Benson underscores the lucrative opportunities available to them. From book deals to pet food brands, these furry companions are proving to be more than just cuddly companions, with many of them carving out successful careers in various industries.
In the entertainment industry, animal actors like Olivia Benson continue to command significant earnings, with organisations like the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) revealing that animal actors can earn up to $500 (Rs 41,505) per day on set.
