On Tuesday, Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, shared a story on her Instagram account in support of Palestinians residing in Gaza. Instagram users were posting and sharing “All Eyes On Rafah” posts to show solidarity with the people of Palestine, and Ritika joined in by sharing the same post on her story.
However, as her post gained traction on social media, especially on X, it attracted criticism. Some accused her of ignoring Indian issues, while others mocked her, suggesting she knew nothing about Rafah or its location and was merely following a trend.

In the related incident, hours after Hamas launched rockets at the Tel Aviv area, Israel retaliated with an airstrike on Rafah, a southern city in Gaza. The strike devastated a tent camp for displaced people, resulting in 45 deaths and over 200 injuries.
As per reports from the Palestinian official news agency WAFA, approximately eight rockets were launched by Israeli forces towards the tents within a recently formed camp, densely populated with thousands of displaced individuals. This camp is situated near the warehouses of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
This action sparked a global outcry, with many, including Iran, rallying around the phrase “All Eyes on Rafah.” Iran’s Embassy in New Delhi posted on their official X handle, “‘All eyes on Rafah’ is a phrase that refers to the ongoing genocide in Rafah, Gaza, where over 1.4 million Palestinians are seeking shelter.”
For context, Hamas, which governs Gaza, is currently at war with Israel. On October 7 last year, the group launched a significant assault, crossing Gaza’s border into Israel, killing hundreds and taking numerous hostages.
In the midst of the recent turmoil, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged on Monday that a “tragic mistake” had been made in the Rafah strike and investigations were ongoing.
