Man Transforms Abandoned Plane Into Luxury Villa With Infinity Pool, Anand Mahindra Reacts

One can trust an industrialist Anand Mahindra for sharing some of the most interesting videos with his X followers. Recently, the industrialist shared a video that showed a man transforming an old airplane into a luxury villa. In the undated video, Russian entrepreneur Felix Demin gives a tour of his Boeing 737 airplane which is now a two-bedroom villa, with an infinity pool that has a stunning view of the Indian Ocean. This unusual property is perched on the top of the Nyang Nyang Cliffs in Bali, Indonesia. Felix Demin bought the abandoned Boeing 737 into a villa in 2021 and started renting it out in April 2023, post-renovation.

While sharing the video of the airplane-turned-villa, Mahindra wrote, “Some people are fortunate enough to be able to turn their fantasies into reality. And this chap doesn’t seem to impose any constraints on his imagination! I’m trying to figure out whether I’d ever be interested in booking a stay here but I’m a bit worried about jet lag post the experience…”

Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “Truly great imagination and execution. What a place to stay.” Many people also suggested that Mahindra himself should build something like this in India. Making this point, an X user wrote, “Anand Mahindra sir should build one of their Mahindra resorts like this. Suitable locations would be Goa, Konkan. Alibaug, Kerala, etc.”

“May be Mahindra holidays can start this concept in India in different states. After all India is surrounded by oceans..,” wrote another.

However, not all people were impressed with this transformation as many thought it was more gimmicky than substantial. An X user wrote, “If one has the resources, one would fly to the best of sea view destinations and stay in best of hotel suites. Guess this is fit for Social Media and WhatsApp only.”

Back in February, Demin spoke to CNN about the gruelling process of transforming the plane into a luxury property. He mentioned that the hardest part of the process was to shift the plane to the Nyang Nyang Cliffs. Demin, who has been living in Bali for around eight years, said that the plane’s transportation, involved two cranes, supervision of various specialists, and even a police escort. The transportation took five days.

He recalled, “It was the most sleepless five days of my life. The fact is that Bali has very narrow roads and a lot of wires that hang quite low,” he says. “We had a group of people who used special equipment to raise the wires higher so that the plane would not touch them during transportation.”
