A woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Agra has reportedly sought divorce from her husband over a packet of Kurkure. The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, had a daily habit of asking her husband to get her a Rs 5 packet of the popular packaged snack. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the woman’s addiction to the same led to daily disputes between the couple.
Things reportedly escalated when the husband forgot to bring home the snack, which led to a heated argument between the two. Angry at being denied her daily indulgence, the woman left her marital home and went to her parents’ house. She later approached the police seeking a divorce from her husband.
The couple, who got married last year, was sent for family counselling by the Shahganj police in Agra, as per the report. The husband, in his statement, expressed concern over his wife’s unusual craving for Kurkure, which had become a point of contention between them.
On the other hand, the wife alleged that she had to leave her husband’s home as he had physically abused her, the report added. The police are investigating the matter to ascertain the truth behind the allegations.
Another Agra couple filed for divorce in February of this year due to the wife’s political involvement who had become “too popular” for the husband. When the situation got to the police, the husband told them that he didn’t like his wife’s encounters with strangers, and hence he filed for divorce.
The husband is a Sikandra native, while the woman is from Thana, New Agra. They had been married for two years. As per the last update of the case, the wife wanted to pursue a career in politics and was not prepared to abandon it. While the husband was adamant that if she did not leave the field, he would “not take her back”.
