Can Nature Be Beautiful And Scary At The Same Time? This Video Is A Must-Watch
The video shows an iceberg emerging from the ocean. Passengers passing through recorded captured the breathtaking view.

A stunning video of a massive iceberg floating upwards with a big splash has netizens in awe. The iceberg unexpectedly ‘jumps’ out of the ocean. A video of this mesmerising view was recorded by passengers on a boat that was just passing through looming icebergs. The Icebergs float over water because they are made of frozen freshwater, which is less dense than salt water. Yet, the unexpected and fast surfacing of the iceberg was shocking. It is unclear where this video was taken. Popular account Unilad posted it on Instagram on February 2 and so far it has gathered over 19,000 likes.

The video was captioned, “Nature can be so beautiful and so scary at the same time." Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Nahhhhh Titanic didn’t stand a chance! They just be coming out of nowhere!"

Many people commented on the onlookers who clapped when the iceberg emerged. An Instagram user wrote, “There’s no way I’d be clapping! I would’ve been ABSOLUTELY terrified.. like BEYOND!!" Another person wondered, “What if it was straight under the boat instead?" An Instagram user joked, “Wonder how many times that’s happened and someone thought it was a ufo or a sea monster."

In January 2023, an iceberg measuring around 1,550 square kilometres, which is more than twice the size of Mumbai, broke off from the Brunt Ice Shelf in Antarctica. According to the British Antarctic Survey, this breakoff took place on January 23 between 12.30 AM and 1.30 AM IST. Jane Francis, director of BAS, said in a press statement, “Our glaciologists and operations teams have been anticipating this event. Measurements of the ice shelf are carried out multiple times a day using an automated network of high-precision GPS instruments that surround the station."

In April 2019, tourists in Iceland, who were visiting the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier in Vatnajökull National Park, had to run for safety after a glacier collapsed near them. Stephan Mantler, a mountain guide recorded the incident.

He told CNN, “I could see all of them start to move out of harm’s way and their guides also ready to jump into action if necessary, so I kept recording but with a watchful eye on people’s movements." According to ABC News, all 10 people who were near the glacier when it crashed and created a huge splash were able to escape in time. The broken glacier, which was part of a larger glacier of Vatnajökull, had been breaking off due to a rise in temperatures.
