Amazon Customer Claims Receiving Used Tissot Watch, Gets Armani in Exchange
An Amazon customer alleged receiving a pre-owned Tissot watch, and its replacement sent by the American e-commerce giant turned out to be an Armani watch.

An Amazon customer’s attempt to purchase a Rs 31,500 Tissot watch as a birthday gift turned into a nightmare. When the package arrived, the customer entered the watch’s serial number to check its authenticity, only to realise that seller sent a used watch. Frustrated, the customer filed a complaint with the e-commerce giant and requested a replacement. However, the situation worsened when the replacement arrived – a watch by Armani instead of Tissot.

“Fraud by Amazon,” wrote an X (formerly Twitter) user who goes by “The Disciplined Investor” on the microblogging platform.

The X user added, “I had ordered a Tissot PRX watch on July 21 from Amazon. I received the watch on July 28 from the seller Mega Store LLP. I entered its serial number to check its authenticity on Tissot’s website. I found that the watch was purchased on February 15, 2023.”

The user further shared that he received an Armani watch in exchange of used Tissot watch. “The fraud seller had sent a used product. I complained to Amazon and they offered a replacement with assurance that strict action will be taken against the seller. When the replacement was received, I found that seller had sent an Armani watch in the Tissot box.”

When the X user reported this issue to Amazon, customer care repeatedly transferred the calls to senior staff, causing long wait times without providing any resolution. Despite filling out a form detailing the problem, the user received only a generic response from the company, promising a call from a representative within 6-12 hours, which later went up to 24-48 hours.

The post has since gone viral with over four million views. Many echoed the X user’s sentiments about the American multinational technology company Amazon.

Here’s how X users reacted to this fraud:

“It’s best to file an online complaint with the Consumer Court. I had a similar experience with a different product, and my case was resolved within 12 hours after filing the complaint. Don’t forget to send copy of complain to Amazon,” suggested an individual.

Another added, “Amazon Customer Care is the worst ever. Pathetic beyond words.”

“Amazon is one of the worst now a days. Flipkart open box delivery is way better than this scammer,” expressed a third.

A fourth commented, “Never buy luxury watches online. I don’t trust random sellers with authentic products. Yes, they are a lot cheaper but I’ve seen many reviews saying the watches don’t work after a month.”

“Happening quite often in Amazon nowdays. I too order many times in past 1 year & received totally different products. Like I ordered some clothes & got some local market kids shoes. I had to raise complaint on their customer care n they resolved it but it is not good customer experience,” said a fifth.
