India Railways has launched an assimilated mobile application yesterday. Apart from booking tickets, the app will offer consumers options like booking a retiring room, booking a porter or ordering meal.

The new app launched by the Railway Minister - Suresh Prabhu is called Rail SAARTHI. The app eliminates the need to download multiple mobile apps by the Railways. Earlier, users needed to download separate apps to use altered facilities.
After launching the app Prabhu said, "to deliver improved client experience, there was a need for an integrated application which could give a single window interface for these services.
The Rail SAARTHI (synergised advanced application rail travel help and information) app also has a complaint and suggestion section for further improvement of the app.
This new app has been developed by Centre for Railway information system (CRIS), at a cost of Rs. 7 crore.
