Vu launches 15 new LED television sets in India at Rs 9,000 onwards

New Delhi:TV-maker Vu Technologies is aiming for three-fold jump in turnover to Rs 300 crore in 2015-16 on the back of growing e-commerce sales.

The company, which gets up to 55 per cent revenue from onlines sales, launched 15 new smart TVs that would be exclusively available via e-commerce website Flipkart.

"We would be having a sales of around Rs 300 crore by the end of next fiscal. We are targeting to sell around one lakh TV sets in the market by that time and majority of them would come from online sales," VU Technologies Design Head and CEO Devita Saraf said.

The company has a turnover of Rs 100 crore with annual sales of 35,000 TV sets.

The range launched in exclusive tie up with Flipkart is priced between Rs 9,000 and Rs 9,00,000. The range sizes between 19 inches and 85-inches, covering almost all TV sizes.

"We are providing latest UltraHD or 4K technology at affordable prices. It is 40 per cent cheaper than other TV makers," Saraf said, adding that now Vu's television sizes and configurations compete with the likes of Sony, Samsung and LG.

Vu's 4K range is Android powered.Flipkart, which is currently having around 15 per cent revenue from sales of TV and mobile phone segment is expecting it to grow further.

Flipkart VP retail Amitesh Jha: "Electronics good today are playing a major role in driving the e-commerce industry. Consumers online are not just looking for high-tech features, they are also going by brand repute and innovation in technology. They want all these features at a good price point along with effective after sales service."

VU Technologies also said that it plans to have 15 showrooms in the next one year, adding 12 more to the existing network.

"We are aiming to have 15 stores in next six months in leading metros. Presently we are having three stores at Mumbai and Gurgaon," Saraf said.

However, the company did not reveal the amount it would spend on adding new stores.
