OpenAI has been widely speculated to enter the search engine segment with the help of its AI-powered search this month. The company has even confirmed its virtual briefing for May 13 where we will see new ChatGPT and GPT-4 products and may be the search engine.
However, Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI has tried to water down those excitements but claiming that the event on Monday will purely focus on the new improvements and features in ChatGPT and other GPT products for its premium and regular customers.
Altman and Co. have reportedly been building the GPT-5 version which is expected to be announced this year but many felt this event could be the day when we see that happen. Altman has clearly stated that the event will be all about ChatGPT and probably another new thing from the AI giant. The post on X from Altman talks about the team working hard on some new stuff and it feels like magic to him.
not gpt-5, not a search engine, but we’ve been hard at work on some new stuff we think people will love! feels like magic to me.monday 10am PT. https://t.co/nqftf6lRL1

OpenAI has also been doing its best to poach people from Google to build and expand its AI team which could also be looking at the development of the rumoured search engine. Google’s own search adventure has taken a hit, especially with its experiment with AI baked into the popular product.
OpenAI bringing a ChatGPT-powered Search has got the public excited while the market wasn’t so keen for Google to see its value grow amidst the news about the OpenAI search engine. We’ll have to wait for a few hours to see what Altman and Co. have been working on and what magic the world will get to see this week.
