Vivo has emerged as the first smartphone brand to roll out a stable Android 15 update. The tech giant is kicking off the launch of its Funtouch OS 15, making its debut on flagship devices like the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and the Vivo X100 series.
Until now, the race for major Android updates has been dominated by giants like Samsung and Google with their Pixel and Galaxy lineups.
Vivo Android 15 Update: What Users Get
Vivo’s Funtouch OS, built on Android 15, promises a personalised and improved user experience. This update features a host of exciting improvements, including smoother performance, greater customisation options and significant AI innovations like a powerful Eraser tool in the Gallery App — similar to Google’s Magic Eraser — as well as shadow removal, Live Translate, and a dedicated Private Space for managing personal apps.
Vivo has also shared a detailed Android 15 roll out timeline for all its devices that will go on till mid-June 2025 and cover most of its phones, including the budget range.
The image here shows you that Vivo will focus on updating the X Fold, X-series phones and the V-series phones to Android 15 this year, but everyone gets to use the new version. Some people might get to experience the 15 version as Google begins to work on Android 16 for next year.
But Vivo isn’t the only brand with the news about Android 15 update. There is exciting news for iQOO fans, as select devices are also set to join the Funtouch OS party.
Where Is Google?
Google is set to roll out the highly anticipated Android 15 update for its flagship Pixel 9 series and other devices next month, while Samsung lags behind, still awaiting the beta version of OneUI 7, leaving users itching for a stable update.
In the meantime, brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Nothing are also gearing up to upgrade select models by late 2024.
