OnePlus 5 was finally launched in India at a starting price of Rs 32,999. It features a dual-camera setup. But Chinese tech giant Huawei's sub-brand Honor is also all set to launch their dual-camera powerhouse smartphone the Honor 8 Pro on July 6. Guess what, it also comes with a dual camera setup.
Both the phones are expected to be in a similar price bracket and will pose competition to each other. While OnePlus has had a massive fan following for the past couple of years, a brand like Honor is also playing catch up in the popularity rating.
There was no doubt that OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T were the phones to buy last year, but Honor also made waves with the Honor 8 simply because of its beautiful design. So the stage is set for a battle between the OnePlus 5 and the Honor 8 Pro for dual camera lovers.
So what will make them different?
The OnePlus 5 comes with a dual camera setup that will have one normal lens and one telephoto lens. That is Apple iPhone 7 Plus stuff. Honor, on the other hand, is known for making dual camera setups that have similar lenses and one is for monochrome effect usually. We expect the same with Honor 8 Pro. In fact, back in April, we gave you a first look of the Honor 8 Pro that we procured from China. Take a look at that in the video below.
What you might have noticed is that the Honor 8 Pro comes with a flat back design that just aesthetically pleasing to look at. OnePlus 5 also has a massive camera bump that looks very similar to the iPhone 7 Plus camera bump.
Another interesting thing here is that OnePlus has designed a very simple camera app. There are no editing functions or filters or 10-different modes. Honor, has been known for giving some good editing image tools as well as some cool features like good food photography and monochrome.
So it will be interesting to see whether consumers go for the camera capabilities of both these phones or for the overall package. We'll get to know that soon, so what this space for more on both OnePlus 5 and the Honor 8 Pro.
