Google Pixel 8a, 7 Pro or even the Pixel 6a users in India have been warned about a major security risk by the government. The risk alert has been issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In earlier this month. Pixel devices are assured of quick security updates from Google but even then, a major zero-day security issue has come to light recently which affects millions of Pixel users across the globe and in India as well.
Google Pixel Security Risk: What Indian Govt Says
Going by the details of the zero-day vulnerability facing Pixel users, the issues can be exploited by threat actors to bypass the device security and plant malware or any other virus. “These vulnerabilities exist due to improper input validation flaws within the Exynos RIL, Modem, LWIS, ACPM, Fingerprint sensor, telephony, audio, WLAN host, Trusty OS, Pixel firmware, LDFW, Goodix, Mali, avcp, CPIF, and GsmSs subcomponents in Pixel devices,” CERT-In highlights the range of issues faced by Pixel devices.

Google has issued its own security bulletin detailing these issues and even the security patch is already out there. So, if you use a Pixel device that is vulnerable to these issues, we suggest you update to the latest version or security patch right away. You can install the latest security update by going to Settings – System – Software Updates and install the version available from the company. Those of you using the Pixel 4a model in India are not affected by these issues and they will not be getting more updates from the company.
