Google Chrome will now warn you about sites that prompt unwanted software downloads
Chrome already has a warning that pops up once a software download is initiated, however, this new warning will appear prior to visiting a potentially harmful site.

New Delhi: Google has rolled out a new feature for its web browser, Chrome, which shows warning if a user visits a site that encourages download of unwanted software.

A red warning popup tells warns the user that the site ahead 'might attempt to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience' by, for example, switching your homepage or injecting extra ads on your screen, Mashable reported.

Chrome already has a warning that pops up once a software download is initiated, however, this new warning will appear prior to visiting a potentially harmful site.

Adding an extra later of protection, Google has also introduced a framework to its search engine that helps it track deceptive sites and reduce their likelihood of being featured in the search results.

The search giant has also started disabling ads that could lead to websites that encourage unwanted software downloads.
