Update: Gionee Elife S7: Gionee launches new flagship phone with 5.5mm thickness at Rs 24,999 in India
Hyderabad: Gionee is all set to launch its new flagship smartphone - the Elife S7 - in India today at its event in Hyderabad. The phone that has a thickness of 5.5mm is said to be inspired by the U-shaped design of railways tracks.
According to Gionee, the metal used on the Elife S7 is aviation level aluminum magnesium alloy, making the build solid and durable with no worry of bending in pockets.
Powering the phone is a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.7GHz processor. The phone has a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, 13-megapixel rear and an 8-megapixel front camera.
"Powered by the night mode engine of Image+, the device can capture 6 pictures in about 1 sec," says Gionee, adding, "the S7 can capture a picture with only 500 milliseconds, and its focus time is only 300 milliseconds."
Both the front and back of the phone have Corning Gorilla Glass 3, thereby protecting the phone from scratches.
The Elife S7 is the first phone to run Gionee's Amigo 3.0, which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
Packed with a 2750mAh battery, the Gionee Elife S7 is claimed to last for a whole day. The company, in addition, says to have optimised both the hardware and software performance to lower battery consumption.
