Musk has taken another jab at Microsoft-backed OpenAI, stating that he would withdraw his lawsuit if the company rebranded itself as "ClosedAI."

Elon Musk has been publicly addressing his legal conflict with OpenAI, and in response, the organisation has published a blog post revealing specifics about Musk’s wish to exert full control over the company and his ambition to assume the role of CEO.

Now, in a recent development, Musk has taken another jab at Microsoft-backed OpenAI, stating that he would withdraw his lawsuit if the company rebranded itself as “ClosedAI.”

For context, Musk, a former board member of OpenAI who resigned in 2018, has filed a lawsuit against the organization and its CEO, Sam Altman, citing an alleged breach of their original contractual agreements related to artificial intelligence. OpenAI countered Musk’s claims, revealing that discussions about a for-profit structure were hindered by Musk’s insistence to “merge with Tesla or he wanted full control.”

“We’re sharing some facts about our relationship with Elon Musk, and we intend to move to dismiss all of his claims,” OpenAI said on X.

To that, Musk replied, “Change your name to ClosedAI and I will drop the lawsuit.” In addition, Musk said that “OpenAI needs to stop living a lie.”

OpenAI, in its blog post, provided a comprehensive account of Musk’s demands, including majority equity, initial board control, and the position of CEO at the company. “We couldn’t agree to terms on a for-profit with Elon because we felt it was against the mission for any individual to have absolute control over OpenAI,” said OpenAI founders Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, John Schulman, Sam Altman, and Wojciech Zaremba.
